bought him an acoustic guitar which Jimmy taught his
self to play. Because he was left handed, Jimmy stung
the guitar upside down. Soon he joined a band called
The Velvetones. A few years later, Jimmy left home and
joined the US army. There he formed a band called The
King Casuals. After being discharged from the army, he
worked as a session guitarist for musicians like Tina
Turner, The Isley Brothers and Little Richard. In '66,
Jimmy moved to England and formed the Jimi Hendrix
Experience. Their first single, "Hey Joe" was a hit
in the UK. Soon after that, The Experience released
one of the most popular rock albums ever: "Are you
Experienced?" In the summer of1969, Jimi Hendrix
joined with Gypsy Sun & Rainbows to play Wooodstock

Stevie Ray Vaughan

Stevie Ray Vaughan's biggest influence was his brother.
Jimmy, his brother, was three years older than him, and
was one of the best guitar players in Austin at the age
of fifteen. Stevie first picked up the guitar when he
was eight. Jimmy caught and beat up Stevie every time
he did this, but Stevie thought it was worth a beating
to get to play for a little. One time when one of
Jimmy's band mates was picking Jimmy up to play a gig,
he heard beautiful music coming out of Jimmy's room.
When he peaked his head in the room, he saw a twelve
year old boy instead of Jimmy. The only thing the guy
said was "their are two of you." At seventeen Stevie
quit school and moved to Austin. He joined a Crackerjack,
a local Austin blues band. After Crackerjack, Stevie
joined the Nightcrawlers. After the Nightcrawlers, he
joined the Cobra's for a short time. After playing
with some other bands, Stevie formed Double Trouble.
It featured Lou Ann on vocals. Three years later,
Stevie cut off Lou Ann and took over the vocals.
In 1982, David Bowie asked Stevie to play for his
record. When Stevie finished the record, Bowie asked
to tour with him. Stevie refused because Double
Trouble was just starting to take off. Stevie moved
back to Austin. A couple years later, SRV and Double
Trouble singed to epic records. Their first album,
Texas Flood, won them two Grammies and international
fame. In 1984 they release "Couldn't Stand the
Weather." Their third album to go gold, Soul to Soul,
was released in 1985. Then in 1986, they release "Live
Alive." That year Stevie became the first person to
be nominated for two Grammies in the same category.
Trough this whole period, Stevie was abusing drugs
worse and worse. So in 1987, he checked into
a hospital to de-tox. Stevie came out in the best
shape of his career and playing better than he
did before. In 1989, they release In Step. It
produces Stevies first number one hit. In 1990,
Stevie died in a Helicopter crash. He also has
a signature guitar produced by fender
